Cristiano Ronaldo just revealed his retirement from Football: ‘Probably my last year of football.’ So what are the reasons behind this?
Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that 2026 could be his last year of playing professional football after achieving a world-breaking career. He made this revelation during a recent interview with Vogue.
“This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy,” Ronaldo told Vogue. The 41-year-old superstar is known across the globe as one of the best soccer players in modern history.
Throughout his career, he has scored a record-breaking 976 goals both for several clubs and his home country, Portugal. Ronaldo has also won several awards, including five Ballon d’Or awards and many other major trophies.
On August 11, Cristiano Ronaldo married his wife Georgina Rodríguez. During that interview with Vogue, he revealed that he was “looking forward to spending more time with the family.” He also stated that he had his future “all mapped out.”
When the interviewer asked him what he would likely be doing after retirement, he said:
“I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard. Because football could leave a big hole; you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one,” Ronaldo replied.
“And also have more fun, travel more, watch and play padel, which I really like, and continue to enjoy what I’ve earned – what we’ve earned. Because, after all, it’s been 25 years with a lot of sacrifice,” He added.
During the last World Cup, Ronaldo scored his sixth World Cup goal, earning him the first player in history to ever score in six different World Cups.
Throughout his career, Ronaldo has played for clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. He returned to Manchester before moving over to Al-Nassr, a Saudi Arabian club where he’s currently playing.
Ronaldo hopes to attain 1,000 career goals before his retirement. Many analysts predict he could achieve this milestone in the forthcoming Saudi Pro League season. Do you think that the Greatest Of All Time will retire, setting one of the best records in soccer history?
