Blue Origin Just Delayed Its First New Glenn Rocket Launch Because of This

New Glenn launch date

Blue Origin previously announced its plan to launch the New Glenn Rocket today, January 10. However, the aerospace company has delayed this launch due to bad weather conditions. Today’s launch was supposed to lift off at 1:00 a.m. EST (0600 GMT) from Blue Origin’s launch pad at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

However, the bad weather caused the Atlantic Ocean to become rough, causing the aerospace company to delay the launch of the New Glenn to the next two days. Hence, the launch of the New Glenn rocket will likely take place on Sunday, January 12, at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

Blue Origin announced on their official website revealing that the launch will still be a three-hour launch window opening on Sunday at 1 a.m. EST (0600 UTC).

What You Should Know About the New Glenn Rocket and the Forthcoming Launch

Blue Origin, a private American aerospace company founded by Billionaire Jeff Bezos commenced with the development of the New Glenn rocket in the last decade. Unlike previous rocket systems built by the aerospace company, the New Glenn rocket is Blue Origin’s first orbital-class space vehicle.

It stood at a height of 320 feet (98 meters) and has a reusable first stage which is built to fly back to Earth after liftoff. The first stage will land on a floating sea landing platform named Jacklyn, after Bezos’ Mum.

Jacklyn is in the Atlantic Ocean and strong enough to hold the weight of the New Glenn’s first stage. Since the company is hoping to actualize a perfect landing goal on the platform, Blue Origin officials have to postpone the NG-1 mission to January 12 to increase their chances of having a successful mission.

Keep in mind that Blue Origin has not tried to land the booster before offshore. Hence, landing offshore is the company’s major goal for this launch. Blue Origin built the New Glenn rocket to launch payloads to Low Earth Orbit, the moon, and Mars.

Hence, the rocket will help the private aerospace company to reach a new height. After the January 12 launch, we should be expecting more launches from Blue Origin throughout this year. As always, we will continue to keep you updated about the latest move made by the aerospace company to improve the sophistication of the New Glenn Rocket.
